The H & Co. was founded in Rome in 1794 within the walls of Ricci clock shop. In 1820, opens its first historic office in Piazza Colonna. Ernst Hausmann, German watchmaker, joined the company in 1870 and then bought the ownership of the Ricci firm in 1881. The company was temporarily moved to Via Bocca di Leone, to arrive then, in 1890, finally in Via del Corso, where it still can be found today. The company takes its name Hausmann & Co. in 1895 when a very talented engineer, also German, Hermann Frielingsdorf joined Hausmann. This company has since the early years of the ‘900s, collaborative relationships with major Swiss watchmaker firms. During the twentieth century they opened several stores in Naples and Genoa and in those years, they were the official dealer of Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin in Rome, and also produced watches under its own name. In the '60s Hausmann & Co. worked on the construction of the first prototype of a speed measuring camera, using a camera and a watch with chronograph, and later installed numerous precision time keepers in the ships of the Italian Navy, able to keep the exact time regardless of radio signals coming from the outside. Since 2001, Benedetto Mauro and Francesco Hausmann, are the managers of Group Hausmann & Co. At present time, the group is the official distributor of the products of the most prestigious and exclusive, companies that have made the history of watchmaking including Rolex, Cartier, IWC, Jaeger le Coultre, and many others.
