The Rolex SA was founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf and his stepbrother, Alfred Davis, in London. Wilsdorf & Davis was the original name given to the company, which later became the Rolex Watch Company. Initially the production was limited the Swiss mechanisms produced by Hermann Aegler, who later became a partner, were imported in England, and assemble them into luxury cases created by Dennison and other jewelers of the time. The first watches produced by the Wilsdorf & Davis were marked " W & D". Hans Wilsdorf registered the trademark "Rolex" in Switzerland in 1908, moved to Britain in 1912, and finally moved the main house to Geneva, with branches in other cities and in other continents: North America, Asia, and Australia. 

The name Rolexwas officially registered on November 15, 1915. Wilsdorf wanted a name easily pronounceable in any language, in 1919, the company name became Rolex Watch Company, later becoming Montres Rolex SA. Now it’s called Rolex SA, a name which consists of the letters of the same size so that it can be written symmetrically. The 5-pointed crown, a symbol of the historic watch company, was introduced in 1925.
