Icon of the Mother of God of Pokrov - Russia 18th century
Old Russian icon dating back to the end of the 18th century executed in tempera on wood representing the Mother of God of Pokrov, also known as the Mother of God of the Veil or of Protection. This image is linked to the apparition to St. Andrew, the Fool in Christ, of the Virgin Mary who, having removed her veil, she spread it over the faithful as a symbol of protection. It is one of the most complex and interesting iconographic compositions for the variety of the characters represented. The panel is in good conditions considering its age.

Ho fatto pulire e controllare i miei gioielli, quando li ho rivisti ho fatto un salto indietro nel tempo di molti anni, oggi rivedo finalmente questi monili di nuovo brillanti e luminosi come quando mia madre li acquistò da giovane per indossarli e viverli in ogni buona occasione.
