Authentic Russian icon made of tempera on a wood panel. Datable around 1840, this icon came probably from the central area of Russia. It can be defined "popular" because of the simple structure of the images and the plain and common colours. It represents the theme of "Our Lady of sinners" or "Our Lady, ease my pain". The peculiarity of this icon is that both the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus have a crown. On the sides there are two Saints, one of whom is Saint Alexius. The preservation conditions are good.
